Most people in the UK find their braider through Instagram, word of mouth, or hours of frustrated searching on Google. General salon directories are dated or cluttered with places that do not really do afro and textured hair.
Braiders.co.uk fixes that, for clients and for you.
For your clients, we are a UK directory built for braids: organised by style and area, with real prices, real photos and real braiders.
For you, we are a way to be found by the people most likely to book, without fighting the Instagram algorithm or paying for Google ads.
How it works
Whether you are claiming a listing we have already created or adding your business from scratch, the process is the same.
- Add your business. Tell us your business or working name, area, the styles you do, and how to contact you. Upload a few photos of your work. Takes about 10 minutes.
- We review and publish. Free listings go live within 1 to 3 working days after a quick check that you are a real braider working in the UK.
- You appear in search. Your profile shows up on your city page, on the style pages you work in (knotless, box braids, cornrows, crochet, passion twists), and in directory-wide search.
- Clients reach you direct. Anyone interested contacts you through the methods you listed, Instagram, WhatsApp, phone or booking link. We are not in the middle, we take no cut, and we charge no fee per client.

Plenty of braiders are brilliant at braids and find writing about themselves a chore. If your listing is sitting half-finished because you are not sure what to put, we will do it for you.

What being listed actually does for you
A profile on Braiders.co.uk works in three ways:
Search visibility
When someone searches “braiders in Birmingham” or “knotless braids Manchester”, your city and style pages show up in Google, and your profile is on those pages. We do the SEO work; you get the traffic.
Discovery beyond Instagram
Plenty of clients do not use Instagram, or cannot find what they want through hashtags. They use Google. The directory captures that audience.
Trust signals
Being on a UK directory tells clients you are a real, established business, not a one-off Instagram account. That matters for newer braiders building a reputation, and for clients booking someone they have never met before.
The directory does not replace Instagram, word of mouth, or your own website. It works alongside them.

- Braiders who serve men and boys as well as women and children

We don’t list:
- Braiders outside the UK (we may add coverage later, but not yet)
- General hair salons that do not do afro and textured hair
- Trainees who are not yet taking clients
- Anyone we have credible reason to believe is not operating legitimately
About the Verified Braider badge
The Verified badge is available to Featured subscribers and tells clients we have personally checked your business.
Verification involves:
- Confirming your business is real and currently trading
- Reviewing your portfolio for genuine work, not stock or lifted images
- Optionally, checking one or two client references if you provide them
We do not audit training or specific qualifications. The badge says: this is a real braider, the work shown is genuinely theirs, and we have no concerns.
Verification usually takes 5 to 7 working days after you submit. Once issued, the badge appears on your profile and on the city and style pages where you are listed.
Common questions
- Can I list if I am new and still building my client base?
- Yes. We list newer braiders as well as established ones. Be honest in your profile about your stage; clients appreciate it, and many are specifically looking for newer braiders at lower prices.
- What if I don’t have a fixed business address?
- Mobile and home-studio braiders are welcome. List your service area, for example “Greater London” or “Manchester within 10 miles”, rather than a specific address. Your home address stays private.
- Do I need professional photos?
- No. Phone photos of your work are fine, and often better, because they look authentic. We only ask that they are your own work, clear enough to see, and that you hold the rights to use them.
- Can I list a salon team or multiple locations?
- Yes. If you are a salon with several braiders or work across locations, get in touch about how to structure your listing. Multi-location and salon plans are available.
- How do I update my details if my prices or contact info change?
- Edit your profile any time from your account dashboard. Free listings can be updated as often as you like.
- What if I want to leave the directory?
- Request removal or email us and we will take your listing down within 3 working days. No questions, no friction.
- Do you take a cut of my bookings?
- No. We charge nothing per booking, per client or per enquiry. Free listings are always free; Featured is a flat monthly subscription. Your client relationships are entirely yours.
- Will my contact details be exposed to spam bots?
- We protect contact details against scraping where we can, and you choose which contact methods to show publicly.
